Donald Trump Jr. kills an elephant, cuts off its tail

It seems Eric and Donald Trump Jr. are major hunters. As per an article at TMZ
Donald’s sons — Donald Jr. and Eric — went on a hunting safari in Zimbabwe a year ago this month, and proudly showed off their trophy kills — including an elephant, crocodile, kudu, civet cat and water buck.

In one shot, Donald Jr. is holding a dead elephant’s tail in one hand and a knife which appears to have cut off the tail in another.

As for Donald Trump, he tells TMZ, “My sons love hunting.  They’re hunters and they’ve become good at it.  I am not a believer in hunting and I’m surprised they like it.”

Trump added, “I know that anything they did was 100% OK in terms of the hunting community.”

As per an article written by the hunting guides involved Hunting Legends, they snuck up on a water buffalo grazing 60 yards away, “we zeroed in on the herd and soon found our shooter grazing leisurely away at only 60 yards.”How pathetic for someone to shoot an animal that is eating from 60 yards. That’s not “hunting” and definitely not a “sport.” Most certainly nothing to be proud about. For the life of me I cannot understand why they’d want to take a photo of themselves with the dead animal and share it all over the Internet.

Eric Trump runs a charity organization which helps sick kids. Just think what a person in his position with his wealth and contacts could accomplish if he set a good example for people. I’m sure that hunting trip cost at least $75,000. He could have helped a lot of sick children with $75,000.

Feel free to send a polite email to Trump’s charity stating that you don’t feel their public display of “hunting” defenseless animals sets a good example. I don’t have a better contact but I’ll try to dig one up.  Feel free to share this note.

UPDATE: 03/12/12 – Donald Trump Jr is defending his hunting on Twitter. He says he’s “proud” that he killed those animals. He’s giving the Bob Parsons’ rationalization, i.e. he was just giving food to hungry villagers. Then why did he have to cut off the tail of the elephant and pose with it? Why did he have to string up a crocodile in a tree if he was just feeding hungry people? Is this the most efficient and humane way to feed hungry villagers? That’s like saying buying heroin and prostitutes is the best way to help hungry Thai people. Why doesn’t the Peace Corps just buy heroin and hookers instead of building schools, hospitals, educating children, showing adults them how to farm, teaching villagers how to start small businesses…? Here are the Trumps’ Twitter accounts. Tell them what you think about their “humanitarian aid” to hungry people. @DonaldJTrumpJR @EricTrump

Trump Jr twittered that he had no idea how people saw the photos of his hunt. I told him the hunting guides posted the photos and article. Since then they locked down the page. If anyone wants a copy, I have a pdf of the article with all photos.
